Police launch into frozen river to rescue a woman
A policeman threw himself into the Moscow River (Russia) to rescue a woman who had been trapped in his vehicle. She risked drowning and severe hypothermia, but the rescuer’s quick action saved her life. The accident occurred the night of this last Thursday. A woman lost control of her truck, broke a security wall and went to the river. The people who passed by the place noticed the fact and notified the police. Agent Alexéi Konyaev was one of the first to arrive. Although a rescue operation had already been deployed, this agent decided to act fast, because the woman’s life was in danger. With the help of a piece of floating ice, he broke the rear window of the vehicle and managed to remove the driver. He carried her in his arms to a bank, all in the midst of an icy climate.
