Cat walks again thanks to titanium prosthesis

Vincent, a 3-year-old cat, has walked again with a pair of titanium prosthesis. Some of the pieces of the prostheses have been printed in 3D and placed directly on their bones. In a statement, Iowa State University unveiled the story of Vincent, a cat that was found by Dr. Sarah Bergh of this house of studies, who initiated the project to give him the ability to walk with the company BioMedtrix. I do not know why the animal lost its hind legs, which are cut at the level of the tibia. The symmetry of both limbs allowed to design these new legs of titanium.

Bergh told Discovery News that the rehabilitation of Vincent will be carried out in parallel to the development of the prosthesis complements that will adapt to a length and shape similar to a normal feline paw. “Vincent is going to jump and do the things a normal cat does very soon,” Bergh said.
